We are pleased to announce that we will be holding an event celebrating Frank Kidson and his legacy in his hometown of Leeds. This event will be held at the Leeds Central Library on the 14th November 2015 and admission for the entire day is free.
The day commences at 12 noon with an in-depth presentation “Finding Five Finger Frank” during which we will talk about Frank Kidson and his contribution to the world of folk song collecting, the source singers that contributed to his collection and we’ll also talk a little about the songs and tunes that we feature in the show “The Search for Five Finger Frank” and how we selected and arranged them for the album.
Between 1.30pm and 5pm we will be holding workshops on the songs and tunes from the Frank Kidson publications and manuscripts. Participants will have the opportunity to learn choruses, harmonies and dance tunes galore from this outstanding collection.
Finally the day will culminate in a performance of the show “The Search for Five Finger Frank” by Pete Coe and Alice Jones, taking place at 6pm where you will be heartily encouraged to utilise all of your newly acquired knowledge and join in with us at every available opportunity!!
For tickets and information please contact Leeds Central Library on 0113 247 6016. Please note that this event free to attend thanks to funding and support from Leeds Library and Information Service, Lottery Funding, Arts Council England and Leeds City Council.
Hope to see you there!!!
Fantastic that you have got the concert in Leeds at last! Looking forward to the event – I will be working & involved in the event, but hope to sneak off to the workshop! Currently preparing a display for the Local & Family History department on all things Frank!
Best wishes for November 14th in Leeds. I hope to see you next year. The book and cd are both excellent. With kindest regards, Fiona Strange.
